Help In Suffering is a registered Indian charitable trust working for the benefit of the animals of India.
Help in Suffering has three animal shelters, the original shelter, founded in l980, on two acres of land in south Jaipur, a second shelter provided by the Municipality to conduct an ABC programme in northern Jaipur, and a shelter in Kalimpong (West Bengal). A specialised Camel Rescue Centre is being built at Bassi, on the Agra Road, the first of its kind in India.
Jaipur is the state capital of Rajasthan, and the shelters there employs about thirty-five staff and utilize three rescue vehicles and three mobile clinic vehicles. Six separate projects are conducted, each headed by a vet. The teams leave base to head out into the city and nearby villages each day.
Kalimpong is a town in the foothills of the Himalayas surrounded by small rural villages. The shelter there employs about ten staff and has one rescue vehicle
Inside the peaceful, garden-like grounds of the shelters, there is also much activity for the shelters hold, treat, and re-home many animals. Villagers may be seen camping alongside their camels or horses.
