History
Help in Suffering was founded by Englishwoman Crystal Rogers (Mishy to her friends), when, on a stop-over on her way to New Zealand, she saw a lame horse being eaten by crows in the street.
She first founded Animal Friend shelter in Delhi and then moved to Jaipur and founded Help in Suffering in l985. Her early helpers were Mr. G.K. Tiwari, still a trustee, Ajay Lobo's family, and Dr. T. Ramchandani.
The first shelter was located on land provided by the Rajmata of Jaipur, but after Mrs. Janine Vogler, President of Animaux Secours, France, visited Mishy in l985, Animaux Secours raised the money to enable Mishy to build a new shelter on a piece of abandonned land at Durgapura. At that time the shelter was surrounded by bare fields. Trees were planted and gardens developed.
Today the shelter is a small oasis among the outer suburbs of Jaipur.
